APPLE CRUMBLE Apple Records launches its largest reissue campaign so far on 25th October with 14 titles being made available on CD and download. You'll be able to pick up a mixed bag of albums by Badfinger, Mary Hopkin, James Taylor, Billy Preston, Doris Troy, Jackie Lomax, The Modern Jazz Quartet, John Tavener and The Radha Krishna Temple, some for the first time on CD. An accompanying 21-track sampler entitled Come And Get It: The Best Of Apple Records boasts previously uncompiled sides from Trash, Hot Chocolate and Bill Elliott & The Elastic Oz Band plus curios like Brute Force's banned 'King Of Fuh' and The Black Dyke Mills Band's Paul McCartney-penned 'Thingumybob' and an assortment of the usual Apple suspects. REACHING NIRVANA Patrick Campbell-Lyons of legendary '60s baroque psychedelic act Nirvana will be reading from his recent acclaimed autobiography Psychedelic Days at Filthy McNastys, 68 Amwell Street, London EC1R 1UU on Thursday 4th November. Patrick's adventures during the swinging decade included playing at The Star Club in Hamburg, hanging with mod guru Pete Meaden, supporting The Rolling Stones, befriending Jimi Hendrix, having his songs covered by Jimmy Cliff and Francoise Hardy and playing live on French TV in the nude while Salvador Dali painted around him! Also appearing on the night will be The Garden City Project, Great Western and St Johns Wood Affair – all performing their own take on Nirvana classics – as well as Kelli Ali performing the classic 'Tiny Goddess' and International Tribal Fusion Bellydancer, Kimberly Mackoy. DUFFY POWER Brian Duffy, along with David Bailey and Terence Donovan, was responsible for some of the '60s' most iconic photographic images, not to mention turning the perception of the fashion photographer on its head. His clients included Vogue, French Elle, The Times, The Telegraph, Queen, Town and London Life as well as advertising for Pirelli, Biba, Smirnoff and Benson & Hedges. Sadly, Duffy died on May 31st this year but his life and work are celebrated in 40 photographs taken in the '50s, '60s and '70s exhibiting at The Lucy Bell Gallery, 46 Norman Road, St Leonards On Sea, TN38 0EJ from 28th September until 19th November.
