The Shindig! Revue #3 Band Showcase – Green Seagull

BEN ADLAM introduces GREEN SEAGULL the second act for the third instalment of The Shindig! Revue at The Victoria, Dalston on the 17th August

Named after a misheard Rolling Stones lyric (“No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue” – bonus points on offer)  GreenSeagull were formed in 2016 when Paul Nelson (New Electric Ride) and Paul Milne (Magnetic Mind) got together and began working on some new music.  A shared enthusiasm for late ’60s baroque psychedelia and West Coast 12-string jangle soon blossomed into a prolific songwriting team. When Lysergics keyboard queen Sarah Gonputh joined along with Elian Dlamasso (Eliphant) a flurry of 8-track demo’s followed and the group were snapped up by Mega Dodo Records.

The Shindig! Revue #3 Band Showcase – RiverChild

BEN ADLAM introduces RIVERCHILD the opening act for the third instalment of The Shindig! Revue at The Victoria, Dalston on the 17th August

RiverChild is a solo singer-songwriter based in North London via the bayous of The Deep South, a storyteller in the great folk tradition, tales of heartbreak and longing and the loneliness of the big sky.  RiverChild’s voice is rare and distinctive, owing as much to the early millennium indie scene as to the country greats, filled with emotion and belief in every word. The guitar parts are melodic and unfussy, alternating between finger picking and gentle strumming that add real atmosphere to the songs as do the occasional blasts of harmonica.

Three years ago RiverChild performed on London Live closing out The Evening Show with ‘Is This The End’ earning him many new fans. He has received warm support from BBC Introducing “fantastic, we like this a lot”, Amazing Radio “Great soulful feel” and championed as an artist of the year by For Folks Sake Website.  RiverChild has played, and continues to play, many, many, many gigs in and around London including Camden Rocks, PennFest and BlogFest as well as a residency at The Hawley Arms in the guise of his own Bringing It All Back Home night.
