Pacific Range – High Upon The Mountain

‘High Upon The Mountain’ is the first single taken from PACIFIC RANGE’S second album, also titled, High Upon The Mountain which is set for release on the 27th March through Curation Records. Shindig! only shares the best with you and this curated California cool is right up there. Sit back, have a sip, have a smoke and get high upon the mountain with this cosmic country from PACIFIC RANGE.

The seeds for Pacific Range were sown when Seamus Turner (guitar & vocals) and Nate Ward (drums) met around 2013 while studying music at Chico State University in Northern California. After jamming together and discovering a strong musical connection they formed the band Dakota Cree. Being music students, they utilized the university’s recording studio to record an EP. Soon they began performing for different school events and playing local clubs around town. The group went through several incarnations, graduations, and moves and eventually landed in Los Angeles. With the additon of bassist Cameron Wehrle and keyboardist & guitarist Stewart Forgey PACIFIC RANGE have settled as a foursome. Cameron joined the group after seeing one of Pacific Range’s live performances and bonding with Seamus and Nate over a love for The Allman Brothers, he then brought along Stewart, a high school and ex-band-mate from the group Echophonics.

PACIFIC RANGE is rooted in the beautiful, sunshiny-coast of California, only a stones throw from the mountains, the desert and and beneath the thing that makes that “LA Sound”, the biggest sky anywhere on earth. How can the music created there not be huge, free and expansive if every time you look up all you see is the sky, oh and Marijuana is legal there too (not that Californians really worried about that anyway). The band’s style draws from many influences ranging from The Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead, to The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers, enjoying the thrill of improvising jams on the hoof, something that is not easy to capture without sounding overblown and pompous but PACIFIC RANGE manage to keep things light and airy (I tell you it’s the sky, man).

PACIFIC RANGE have been hard at work performing in and around LA, touring and prepping High Upon The Mountain for release on March 27th. Some of the places you may have seen them include Topanga Days Music Festival, Pappy & Harriet’s, The Echo, Sweetwater Music Hall, Terrapin Crossroads and Casa Escobar,
alongside such notable acts as Dick Dale, The Surfaris, Circles Around the Sun, The Mother Hips, (Shindig! favourites) Mapache and Grateful Shred.

Below is a little teaser from their debut self titled EP/LP (it’s 41 minutes, 6 tracks, it’s neither an LP or an EP, it’s somewhere in between) called Santa Monica (Through The Canyon)
